The “Campo Santo” (Holy Field) monumental area, built from the end of 1200 to 1400.

The name "Piazza dei Miracoli" or "Field of Miracles" spread in the second half of 1900 thanks to Poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, who described these splendid buildings of Pisa as "Miracles".

In addition to breathtaking Piazza del Duomo or "Miracles’ Square", the historic center of Pisa offers a tour rich of views and perspectives over medieval and Renaissance buildings, such as the Clock Palace and Muda Tower (Torre della Muda) where in 1289 Count Ugolino della Gherardesca was starved to death along with his offspring; this tragic event entered history when Dante Alighieri described it in his "Inferno" (Canto XXXIII).
